About the Studio

Welcome to BBH Pilates, a boutique fitness studio led by Heidi Swinney conveniently nestled in Edina, MN on 77th Street between Hwy 100 and France Avenue. 

We pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of classes tailored to enhance strength, mobility, and flexibility through Pilates and strength training. With a maximum of eight participants in studio classes and five in Pilates sessions, Heidi ensures each client receives personalized attention, including form correction and modifications tailored to individual needs, injuries, and fitness levels.

Our magic lies in our tailored instruction and attention to detail. As a master Pilates instructor trained in all Pilates apparatus, Heidi brings a level of expertise that ensures you're not just working hard, but working smart. Our layered teaching style ensures that every class is both challenging and accessible, allowing you to feel accomplished and empowered with every session.

About Our Instructors

Heidi Swinney

BBH Pilates owner and lead trainer Heidi Swinney is a Balanced Body certified Pilates instructor with over 20 years of training experience. 

Her love for movement started as a child as an athlete and has continued throughout her life as a tool for supporting her physical and mental health. She quickly discovered a passion for Pilates after being hit by a car as a pedestrian and suffering severe injuries to her knee. Pilates helped Heidi recover and return to her full health and fitness goals, firmly establishing her belief that movement heals.

Heidi’s experience and training give her unmatched knowledge she generously shares with her clients. Her layered teaching style attention to form and detail in training empowers her clients to work smarter, not harder, making a noticeable impact on their health and fitness. Every workout delivers a sense of challenge and accomplishment.

Jennifer Davis

Jennifer’s main goal, for herself and clients, is to feel empowered in a healthy body. She completed her 200hr Yoga training in 2015 and is registered through Yoga Alliance as an Experienced Yoga Teacher (E-RYT).  She has since completed trainings in Yin, Restorative, and Kids Yoga.

Jennifer discovered Pilates after experiencing severe SI joint pain following her third pregnancy, finding the intentional movement, mindful breath work, and strength training a winning formula for recovery. She started teaching Pilates Mat and Reformer in 2020, as a perfect complement to her yoga classes.

When not teaching mindful movement, Jennifer is an early childhood educator, working and residing in SW Minneapolis.

Focus on Form

Heidi is a master Pilates instructor trained in all Pilates apparatus including Reformer, Tower, and Exo chair. She focuses on proper form and detail, adjusting and guiding clients for the safest and most effective workout. She encourages her clients to work smarter, not harder. 

Small Class Sizes

BBH is a boutique studio that welcomes no more than 8 people in a studio class or 5 in a Pilates Reformer class. This allows Heidi to cue and correct form properly for each client, providing modifications for injuries, and catering to each client’s individual fitness level. 

All Bodies Welcome

Heidi welcomes all bodies at every fitness level to BBH, providing an encouraging and supportive environment to clients who are having a rough day or struggling to get back into shape. The BBH community is extremely welcoming and encouraging to all new clients.

Private Training and Class Formats

  • Studio Classes

    Our studio classes offer an intimate small group setting with no more than 8 people in a class. You’ll find a variety of full body strength training options including Strictly Strength and Strength Intervals. All levels are welcome and a variety of modifications will be provided.

  • Small Group Pilates

    Come and enjoy strength and mobility work on Balanced Body Allegro Reformers. We welcome up to 6 students in a class and use a variety of props and equipment to keep things fresh and new. This class format is for students with previous reformer experience. If you’re brand new to reformer Pilates, please contact Heidi via email to schedule a private session to learn the foundational principles.

  • Private Training

    When you want one-on-one training, Heidi offers private or duo Pilates Reformer and personal training. She will personalize the workout to you and your level of fitness and mobility. This is the best option for Pilates beginners and a terrifc addition to our small group training and Pilates classes.

Studio Class & Small Group Pilates Details

Pilates Reformer Class

Come and enjoy strength and mobility work on Balanced Body Allegro reformers with up to 6 people. Different props and equipment will be added to the class to keep things fresh and new. Previous reformer experience is required. If you’re brand new to reformer Pilates, please contact Heidi via email to schedule a private Pilates session to learn the foundational principles.

Tower Class

Enjoy 55 minutes of a tower class on the Allegro reformer + Tower of Power conversion. The tower is an apparatus that is attached to the reformer and offers a stable base to work from. Clients will sit, stand or lie down on a mat and work with resistive springs that are attached to the tower to build strength, mobility + muscular endurance. NO socks or grippy socks only due to the required foot grip of the tower trapeze bar. Previous Pilates reformer experience is required.

Power Reformer

Where strength training and reformer Pilates collide. You will alternate AMRAP circuits on the floor for strength training and the reformer for Pilates. Previous reformer experience is required. No shoes needed.

Mat Pilates

Mat Pilates offers the benefits of toning, increased flexibility, improved posture, efficient movement, and core connection, which requires controlled breathing during body-weight-resisted movements. The addition of light weights and other props adds the sculpting effect. Come flow with us. No shoes required. All levels welcome. Mats and water are available at the studio.

Strictly Strength

Full body strength training circuits. Low-impact training with an emphasis on slow and controlled movements, creating lean muscle mass and stability in the joints. All levels are welcome. Shoes required. Mat provided.

Strength Intervals

This is a full-body sculpting and strength-based class using weights, bands, and other props. Interval strength training focuses on working at a controlled pace of 45 seconds of work and 15 seconds of rest, which creates ultimate fat burn. It is a faster-paced, instructor-led circuit-style class that gets your heart rate up with low-impact exercises. NO JUMPING! As always, modifications will be provided. Shoes optional. Mat provided.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic and energizing style of yoga that links breath and movement. This class offers a creative sequence of poses designed to build strength, flexibility, and balance, while cultivating a sense of mindfulness and presence. Expect to move through a series of flowing transitions–sun salutations, standing postures, backbends, and core work–at a steady pace guided by your breath. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or newer to yoga, modifications and options are provided to support all levels. Come ready to create some heat, release tension, and leave feeling refreshed and grounded.
